Why You Should Invest In A Patio Cover

Why You Should Invest In A Patio Cover

Your gorgeous patio is now finished and you love every square inch of it. However, now you have the great debate of whether or not you should have a patio cover installed. The answer to this question is a resounding yes! There are so many awesome benefits that come along with investing in a patio cover and three of them will be discussed here.

Preserves Your Patio

The cost to install your patio was not cheap and it is something that you’d like to keep around for a long time. Repairs to your patio can be costly, and one big reason why you may need repairs is because your patio is constantly being exposed to the elements. A great way to slow down this weathering and deterioration process is to install a patio cover. This patio cover blocks your patio from a lot of the elements that it would otherwise come in contact with regularly, such as rain, snow, sun exposure, etc. This alone can save you a great deal of money in the long run and makes a patio cover an excellent investment.

You Get More Out Of Your Space

When you choose to install a patio cover to go over your patio, you are going to get a lot more out of your space. This is due to the fact that you can use the patio in different weather conditions that you otherwise wouldn’t be able to comfortably. It also makes it much more enjoyable and relaxing to cook, eat, and otherwise entertain outside because of the extra protection it offers.

Increases The Value Of Your Home

When you invest in a patio cover, you are increasing the overall value of your home. Your patio and patio cover are seen as extended living space, which will help your home to appraise for more. Also, if you did want to sell your home at some point, potential buyers will likely be more interested in your home if you have a gorgeous patio and protective patio cover.

New Look with A Carvestone Patio

New Year, New Look with A Carvestone Patio

With the new year, many of us think about the year ahead and what we can do to improve our homes. Are our walkways and driveways looking tired? Have the pool deck and patio seen better days? Is it just time for a change?

When it’s time to upgrade your outdoor environment, here are 5 good reasons to choose carvestone as your concrete overlay option.

Durability. You want your investment to last, and we want our product to look great. An excellent finish comes from a great foundation, so we take as much care with the preparation of the existing surface as we do with the new overlay. We are so sure of this process, we are proud to offer residential owners a 7-year warranty on our product.

Color. With the carvestone process, you can choose the exact mixture you want. Our process allows us to get the color mix to be to the exact one you wish to complement your taste.

Pattern Choice. Whether you want precision squares, random pavers, or a combination of the two, you will get just the style you want with carvestone. All carving work is not by hand, not by form so you can decide the way you want the final finish to look.

Slip Resistance Surface. Carvestone is carved by hand and textured to be non-slip, and we also add non-slip agents into to sealant layer. This makes it an ideal surface for pool decks, patios, and walkways.

Heat Moderation. Everything gets hot in the Texas sun, but the unique properties of the carvestone technique make it a lot cooler than the standard alternatives such as stamped concrete, pavers or painted concrete.

Schedule a Pool Deck Overlay in Winter to Have it Ready to Enjoy in the Spring

Schedule a Pool Deck Overlay in Winter to Have it Ready to Enjoy in the Spring

With Texas temperatures, it is easy to spend most of spring and summer in the pool. Unfortunately, this might not be the best option when your pool deck is showing its age. Instead of letting the deck continue to deteriorate another year, you should invest in a pool deck overlay to improve the entire area. Ideally, you should get professional assistance during winter to have the pool ready for spring.

Get the Work Done in the Off-season

Although you could certainly spend some time in the pool throughout wintertime, the outside temperature is not always ideal, especially at nighttime. However, spring and summer are the best seasons for pool time, so you should make it a top priority to get the work done in the off-season.

Enjoy Flexible Scheduling

When you make plans to handle the work during winter, you do not have to worry about tight scheduling as professionals will have more time on their hands compared to other seasons. If you want to take care of the project on weekdays, weekends, or when you are on vacation, you can do so with ease.

Avoid the Heavy Rain

It is spring and summer in which Texas receives the most rain, which can lead to postponed projects. However, winter is the season that receives the least amount of rain, so you get to enjoy fewer delays.

If you want to have your pool ready to go as soon as spring arrives, you should at least start making plans for your pool deck overlay. Contact us if you want to learn more about our professional services.

What are the most important qualities to have in a concrete contractor?

Experience, first and foremost. A contractor’s experience is reflected in the work. Secondly, strong communication skills are necessary to ensure that you get the quality work you’ve paid for. Thirdly, and this doesn’t get mentioned enough, thoroughness. The contractor should maintain a presentable job site, complete the project to your satisfaction and protect the investments you’ve made in your home and landscaping.

Our Process

Selecting a concrete contractor can be difficult. It can take years before you even know that you have selected the wrong one. That’s why at Allied Outdoor Solutions we do it right the first time, every time. Your concrete project will have a pre-job walk through with one of our project managers where the layout will be determined. We will handle all necessary permits/inspections/HOA’s and pour everything up to code. A typical pour has a 4” slab of concrete, 3/8” rebar on 18” centers and the slope determined by the on-site foreman. Things like thicker concrete at the approach, drains that need to be installed and sprinkler issues will be addressed ahead of time. After completion of the project, you will have a post-job walk through with your project manager. We want you to know that, while we may do a thousand pour’s next year, it will feel as if your is the only one on our plate.

Applications

We will pour walkways, patios, driveways and steps. All of which can be poured with a broom finish (regular) or a decorative finish (stamped or stained). While we will pour hundreds of projects this year with regular concrete, we specialize in the decorative market. We offer dozens of patterns and colors and, with so much experience, pride ourselves on doing beautiful decorative work. Though a decorative finish is a larger investment than a broom finish, the specific stamps and colors chosen will have no impact on your price, so you will be able to select something that is uniquely suited for your area. We will use samples ahead of time in an effort to find something that looks like it was made for your home.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our biggest strength is a commitment to two related issues: installation quality and customer satisfaction. Both really begin with a commitment to process – every stage of it. Everybody thinks about the day you’re pouring the concrete, but at Houston Concrete/Lonestar Concrete we place just as much importance on all the days before and afterwards. They’re when we accomplish those steps crucial to a homeowners happiness. They’re also when we finish details that mediocre companies never seem to get around to.

First of all, a contractor whose experience testifies to their quality work. Second, a contractor with the strong communication skills necessary to ensure that the customer gets the quality work they’ve paid for. Finally, and this doesn’t get mentioned enough, someone who ensures presentable job sites and who will complete the project while protecting the investments you’ve made in your home and landscaping.

Each crew is hard-working and professional, and each is led by an experienced, bilingual foreman who has worked with us long enough to confirm that he maintains the high level of craftsmanship that we demand. Our construction superintendents and lead foremen have decades of industry-related experience, ensuring that each project is completed to your satisfaction.

A decorative concrete surface should be re-sealed every year or so to maintain its original elegance. Other concrete surfaces can be re-sealed less frequently, once every three years or so.
